There are times when life can be a real struggle. Even when you are doing everything ‘right’ like getting enough sleep, eating well and exercising, the day can still turn into a real shit show leaving you ready to hurt everyone in our path – or binge on a gallon of ice cream.
Our lives are far from the Norman Rockwell image hanging on our grandparents walls. For those days when your spending most of your time doing damage control, it’s important to know how to handle the stress.

For me this idea has always been very empowering – you’re in charge of you.”]
Fortunately, we all have an innate guidance system that can help us navigate through just about anything. This internal program can take tough situations from ‘lemons’ and make it ‘lemonade’ (thanks mom for grounding that into my brain my entire life). It can also help you bring down your blood pressure when you feel like you are at the end of your rope.
This guidance stems from our soul and connects us like a tether to our higher power – but sometimes we forget it’s there. When this happens, we start leaning on our own strength to plow through life. I don’t know about you, but for me when I shut down my internal compass and decision make on my own power, never ends well.
When you tap into Divine energy, you are part of a story much larger than the one you would have design on your own. You see life on a grander scale and the little annoyances of the day no longer have any power over you and your mood. Your perception of life when properly ‘plugged in’ takes on a new dimension because you a see where your piece of the puzzle fits with the rest of the world.
The first step is connecting back to your soul.
Calm Down Instantly With This Crazy Trick. It really works. The best part is you can do it anywhere, at any time, and nobody will know.
Take two minutes (two minutes!) and find a quiet spot. It could just be in your car before you walk into work or in the waiting room of the doctors office before an appointment. Wrap your right hand around the back of your left wrist and place three fingers lightly on your pulse. Can you feel it? That’s your life force pulsing though your veins. Now close your eyes and say thank you. Honor your body for working so hard to keep you alive. With every pulse, repeat this mantra silently to yourself – Sat Naam, Sat Naam, Sat Naam. This yoga Mantra is a ‘seed’ mantra.
Sat means truth. Naam means our vibrational frequency, what we vibrate we become. This article explains it in more detail. The meaning really isn’t that important though, what is important is clearing away the chatter in your head (oh, so much chatter) so you calm down, lower your blood pressure, and tap into that inner wisdom of your soul.
There is a quote in my book Wellness Warrior that says, “Small changes equal cataclysmic results”. It’s best to lean in with baby steps when developing new habits. Give this little tried and true meditation a try for a few minutes each day to relieve stress and bring your body and soul back to balance.
