I WAS A TECHNO-PHOBE AT 50, BOUGHT MY FIRST LAPTOP TO DO B-SCHOOL
At 50 years old, I bought a laptop just to go to B-School. After fighting health issues most of my adult life (I’ve had cancer 4 times and currently have two autoimmune diseases), I understand what it’s like to struggle to keep up with life while managing illness. I work with clients one on one with the tools I learned before, during, and after my own issues. I wanted to be able to teach these tools in a bigger way to people that desperately needed them, so I started looking for a program to help me understand the online world.
I knew absolutely nothing before B-School. And by nothing, my daughter had to show me how to turn on my new computer. The learning curve was ridiculous but when I was done with B-School, I had a working knowledge of terms I’d never heard before (hello SEO) and a website that I loved targeting the people I truly wanted to touch.
Since B-School, life has been a little like jumping off a cliff and flying. Because of the many practices I put in play, I’m able to spend more time working with clients online, but the biggest breakthrough is that I got my book Wellness Warrior – Fighting for Life in Fabulous Shoes published, launched. It became an Amazon #1 Bestseller its first week out but what’s more encouraging are the emails and reviews I’ve gotten from people all around the world saying how much my book helped them with a fresh perspective and positivity.
I’ve been developing a strong social media presence at a pretty rapid pace. I’ve done many interviews, live speaking and now am a contributing writer with two online magazines. My live webinar series, How to be Well Without Perfect Health launched last month and I will be a speaking as a patient advocate in Congress at the end of the month. I’m tired just thinking about it all but so excited to be making a difference in a field I can completely identify with.
With B-School I feel like I went from kindergarten to grad school in just a few months. From learning how to use a computer to understanding the marketing and publishing business would absolutely not have been possible without B-School. Also, MarieTV is my go to when I feel like I can’t possibly manage it all. And learning about the give back component of your company inspired me in mine as well. I was very alone while sick and bedridden for two years and wanted to make sure those that are also in the same situation had something to give them hope and encouragement so I designed the Pay It Forward campaign. With every purchased book, you can gift a kindle version for free to a friend going through their own struggle. It’s my way of giving back by paying it forward from someone that understands where they are and wants to extend a hand.
I feel so blessed to be able to expand my work from my little town in Southern California to all over the world. I’ve heard from people in Australia, Europe, India, Canada, Costa Rica and Russia. It’s crazy and wonderful! Making a difference in the world has been a transformation in my life. I’m so happy to know that I can take all my health traumas and use them to benefit others.
